Model: HS103
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

I purchased 2 HS103P2s from Amazon, and neither of them will get further in the setup than, "Unable to Connect to Your Smart Plug Wi-Fi"

I have done the following already to both:

-reinstalled the app

-reset the device by holding the button for 10 seconds.

-I have allowed kasa to access devices on the local network (iphone/ipad settings menu)

-I tried setting it up with airplane mode turned on, and wifi turned on.

-held the button for 5 seconds so the light blinks quickly.

-I am sitting next to the device plugged into the wall.

-I have tried to get the app to connect on my iphone and ipad, both.

-reset my iphone

-reset my iPad

-I have unplugged both devices and plugged them back in multiple times.

I just cannot get my iphone to connect to the device through the app.

I have a Kasa smart bulb that works fine and is connected to both devices.

I plug the smart plugs in, they have a steady amber light, and then start blinking blue/amber.  The device shows in my phone/iPad wifi menu.  I don't have them plugged in at the same time.  Nothing seems to get them to connect.  They were both brand new, in the plastic wrapper.

@Lionheartck

Go into the settings of your phone and head to the app permissions, make sure the location permission is not blocked, if so turn it on.

@Tony I'm on an iphone 12 pro that is up to date.

Location Permission is set to "While Using" which is the highest option available.

Local Network is allowed.

Background app refresh is allowed.

The only thing it will do when I try to connect is stay on the screen "Connecting to Smart Plug" for about 3-4 seconds.  Then, it puts me on the screen that says ""Unable to Connect to Your Smart Plug Wi-Fi" with 3 suggestions "Try a different Location," "Restart Your Device," and "Still Need Help?"

I have tried both plugs in multiple outlets throughout my home, and I have tried being anywhere from 5-30ft away while it's trying to connect.

@Lionheartck  had same problem until I typed the password into my network instead of using auto login

Ensuring that your Bluetooth, wifi, and location settings are on is the first step to fixing the problem.
