Model: Archer C6
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.6

Hi,

I have Archer C6 v2 running as a router together with Deco M5 system for Wifi.

I observe instability with WAN connction.

I am using Dynamic IP and from time to time I just got lost connection.

Sometimes running whole week with zero loss, sometimes lossing connection every 5 min.

ISP claim no disconnection for their optic PON unit, so has to be router problem.

I replace for while with old Tenda router and I did not observe any disconnection.

Looks like Archer having some troubles.

Could IGMP causing it?

I tried to switch off IGMP proxy, which was enabled by default and so far holding, but not sure, that was this.

Any help?

@Tony

Problem solved!!!

I did quite huge investigation, trying several routers, disconnecting devices and found out, that IP camera was making that instability.

At the end, it was power adapter broken, which gives overpower to camera.

That most probably caused too many attempts to router, which casued crash.

Anyhow, adapter replaced and no more instability observed.

Finally.

You could also try modifying the MTU size, maybe the ISP has recommended values.

If the issue continues to stay with the router the WAN port may be bad.

Hi Tony, thanks for reply. I verified MTU size with ISP and default 1500 is valid for them as well, so no problem here. Regardimng WAN port, this is second tp-link router in test, first was Archer C2 with exactly same issue. I replaced for Archer C6 and getting same results. Meanwhile tested also 2 very old Tenda routers with same setup and no issues at all, so I suppose, should be something on Tp-link side.

I would recommend in that case reaching out to your local support team. The engineers will be able to work with you since the issue stays with TP-Link routers.
