Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20200714 rel.18254(5553)

Something weird is happening with the 2.4Ghz connection. When I stand next to the router and connect my S10+ through 5Ghz I get 1.2Gbps! But on 2.4Ghz it struggles to get more than 230Mbps. If I move to the next room it drops to 100 Mbps. I tested an older android device in the next room and it was showing 50 Mbps on 2.4ghz.

I had an old Asus router before and I used to get 400+ on 2.4ghz connection.

Transmit power is on high.

Channel: Auto (also tried fixed less noisy channels)

Mode: b/g/n/ax (also tried b/g/n only)

Channel Width: Tried 20mhz and 40mhz (the result is the same)

Airtime fairness is disabled.

OFDNA: Enabled

Smart connect: Disabled

I have an Orangpi connected to the USB input on the router. I removed it and tested the speed, but it was the same. So, no USB interference.

What am I missing?

Thanks

@gameboy

Have you tested with other devices to see if the 2.4G speed is the same with other devices or just the S10+?

@Tony yes I did. I tested with 2 other android phones & both had ~ 50-100mbps when placed 10 foot from the router.

I guess I should ask if the ax6000 offers speeds within the 300mbps range on 2.4Ghz?

Real-world speeds differ with every environment. If you are getting 230 Mbps on a 2.4G connection that isn't too bad. If you want to see if you can get more speeds, stick with 40 MHz, and a channel that is not around you. Using a WiFi analyzer on your smartphone should help to see that.

I would also disable the OFDMA if you haven't already.

The following are also settings that were done where speed increase was seen:

-Set the application priority to standard (Advanced > QoS > Application Priority)
-Set the QoS speed manually to 1000 Mbps for up and down (Advanced > QoS, top of menu)
-Disable any device priority (Advanced > QoS > Device Priority)
-Disable HomeCare features (Advanced > Security > Antivirus)

@Tony Hi. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I followed all the suggestions & the 2.4ghz seems to be stuck at the 200-220 mbps range.

So is this a router limitation? Is there a known case where a Tp-link AX600 would provide higher 2.4ghz speeds?

I heard of anything like that. What I would recommend is to reach out to our support team so they can examine what you are seeing in detail.
