Greetings,

As mentioned in the subject,

My HP Officejet Pro 8020 just can not find my network through wireless network setup, and I also used Protected Network Setup, the WPS button method, and the PIN method.

None of it works. I still haven't tried connecting it directly using USB cables from the printer to the router, but I would like to hold off that idea yet.

Right now, I just do not know whether there are any other methods or maybe some other modification required from the network/router for the printer to detect the router.

If anybody has any idea, it would be greatly appreciated.

@BasicUser

Unless the Router has a Print Server in it the USB mefhod probably would not work.

A few suggestions to try though.

  • Run on the PC the HP Print and Scan Dr. It shouldn't find anything though until you can assign an IP Address to the printer. Just something to try if it did connect and you didn't realize it.
  • Make sure you have the latest F/W for that printer. See https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-officejet-pro-8020-all-in-one-printer-series/24208622 as it does have one for f/w from 7/27/2021.
  • I'll assume you've tried the Wireless fixing here, http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06316855.pdf?
  • Have you tried the HP Smart App to set up the printer, http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06291141.pdf#xref_open_hp_smart_app_gotham_win10?
  • Have you tried changing the network settings on the printer, http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06291141.pdf
  • There could be a problem with the router's 2.4Ghz SSID in that it isn't compatible with the printer.
    • Change the Channel
    • Change the Security to NONE as a test.
  • I assume the router is set to broadcast the SSID.
