Is there a way to change the number of clients allowed at any one time?

@Turtlelong

Well, I for one have never seen a router that allows that or has a setting? Most are 'locked' (that is the f/w has no capability to handle more) to keep performance up based on design and testing of the router.

This is TP-Link's information on number of devices, https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/201748

That max. number doesn't talk about wi-fi performance either in terms of the limit. However, most home residential routers have a max. of about 35 devices per band.

Deco Mesh routers will generally allow more. Note that since it is per band, a Tri-Band router will handle more devices (assuming you have enough 5Ghz device) to handle 50% more devices than a Dual-Band router.

Even if more were possible, the performance could be severely degraded depening on the number of 'active' devices and what they are doing.
