Model: Deco W3600
Hardware Version: V16
Firmware Version: 1.5.0 Build 20210121 Rel. 55167

I was told that if you use a router as an Access Point, that you don't need the wifi turned on from that device, cause right now I have 2 networks, one from the Deco, and one from my router/gateway. On the app though, it won't let me disable both bands, says to keep one on:

And since you can't change the channels/bandwidth on the Deco's, what the networks like is:

Can that setup there possibly cause clashing/interference with my main network?

@GWARslave119

The device that you should disable would be the Arris gateway/router. I have the BGW210 model, and have disabled the wifi on it. My Decos are running AP mode and doing fine.

Your other question about whether the two are interfering looks to be 'no'. The BGW320 is on ch 6 (2.4GHz) while your Deco chose ch 8. There is some overlap, but unless you live in an isolated neighborhood of 5 acre lots you won't ever avoid that in 2.4G. On 5GHz your Deco is ch 44 and the BGW320 is ch 36 and 161. I see no conflicts there.

@Don.M

I went ahead and shut both bands off on the gateway...

There is one problem though, my step-dad has an older laptop with win7...it can detect the Deco's wifi but can't connect to it, no idea why. Looks like I'll leave one of the bands open on the gateway, otherwise he'll get quite annoyed heh.

It could either be the bandwidth (Deco is probably using multiple channels, some older devices can't handle that) or the security setting (WPA vs WPA2). Try the security setting to see if that will allow it to connect. It is in Advanced / Wi-Fi / Security / Security, and you would want WPA2-PSK [AES] + WPA-PSK [TKIP]. If that doesn't do it you might need help from TP-Link.
