AX11000 Parental Controls Don't Work Consistently
I've enabled Parental Controls in the router settings, but it doesn't appear to work properly.
I created one Parental Control profile, and I tested it by adding my laptop (a Chromebook) to it. It blocks websites like cnn [dotcom], msnbc [dotcom], foxnews [dotcom], and even tp-link [dotcom], BUT it doesn't block other internet traffic occuring over other ports. Furthermore, it doesn't block websites that operate on ports other than the traditional http port 80 or 443. For example, the laptop was able to load this website that runs off port 8123.
build [dot] mcmiddleearth [dot] com [colon] 8123
I also added things like wifi cameras to the Parental Controls profile because I only want the wifi cameras to be accessed within my local network but not communicate to the outside world; this does not appear to work since I was still able to connect to the wifi cameras through the internet (these cameras operate on different port numbers from websites).
It appears to me that the Parental Controls feature only blocks internet traffic going through traditional http/https ports 80 and 443, and maybe a few others, but leaves many or all other ports open. If true, this is a shoddy implementation of "Parental Controls" that can easily be bypassed by simply routing internet traffic through other ports and needs to be fixed.
Can others confirm that their AX11000 Parental Controls features are severely limited to just blocking websites but leaves other internet applications through?
