Hello,

I have TL-WA1201 connected to a switch (TL-SG180E) which has VLANs configured. The AP is in Multi SSID mode and works when AP VLANs are all 1. As soon as I change any of the SSIDs to VLAN 2,3,4 etc (on the AP), the client device, my phone, tries to connect but ends up saying "No Internet".

The switch port's VLAN5 (where AP is plugged in) has a range of 192.168.50.100-200 from the router.

VLAN5 > AP on Static LAN 192.168.50.100. DHCP: Enabled

Is it not possible to create VLAN in AP on top of an already VLANed switch port? Can anyone guide me? I bought the AP specifically to utilize the Multi SSID/VLAN feature.

Thank you.

  @disbstar

You are not able to assign the port on your swtich where your AP is plugged into to a single VLAN and then expect your AP to use multiple. Your switch with route all traffic through that port to the set VLAN regradless if the SSID you're connected to. You would need to se the port your AP is plugged into to the default and then your SSID's will determine what VLAN the traffic is routed through on your network.

  @Jauguar3552 Thanks for the reply. Thats what I concluded it as well after giving it a thought. That this AP (or any other AP) will not work on a VLANed switch to create a further VLAN. I'll use it as a regular AP, which is fine for me. :)
