An unmanaged switch does not interact with IP addresses at all and simply directs information down the correct channels. The Static IP Addresses are set either on the client devices, such as the NAS, or from the Router's DHCP Server. This would make the process extremely simple and allow for setups and ports to be quickly exchanged for one another. If I am not mistaken, an unmanaged switch will not even show up in the list of connected devices for a router, rather it will just be the client connected to it.
When working with a managed switch, it is entirely up to the features available to the user through the user interface. While a managed switch will operate as an unmanaged by default, there are far more configuration options such as QoS, Port Settings, and VLANs when using a management interface. I also believe that a managed switch will appear in the router settings as a separate client device.
