Forgetful router

Forgetful router
After logging into router management, I click the Basic tab then click on Wireless Clients. I rename a connection (e.g. "Printer"). I even create a DHCP reservation for its IP and MAC and give it the same name.
Later on, I get a "New Device Connected" email from TP-LINK Cloud and it's the same IP and MAC and shows up as "UNKNOWN" in the Wireless Clients list.
Why is the router forgetting the custom names I've assigned?
