Does deco BE85 come with SFP+ modulators to connect it via fiber patch cable to a switch, or do those have to be purchased separately? I saw a port for SFP+ connection and would like to utilize that when my system arrives! Also what type of patch cable and type of SFP+ modulators should be used? single or dual?

  @jake26

The BE85 does not come with a SFP+ Module and will need to be purchased separately. The SFP+ ports are designed to be used with both single and dual modules - as the connections are the same. Both the type of module and the patch cable will depend on what type of fiber connection is coming from your ONT or ISP.

I installed a Deco BE85 today.   Three units were installed with a 10 Gbs ethernet backhaul connecting all three.  First observation - one of the rubber feet was missing from a unit.   The foot was never installed (no glue).   Please arrange to send a rubber foot - this should have been obvious in Q/A.   Now to the more serious stuff:   The signaling between the units (wired backhaul) is shown to be (via a test switch)  at 10 Gbs as is the second 10 Gbs port on each.    Internet connection is a 5 Gbs fiber connection using a Nokia 320 in pass through mode (like a bridge).   My Mac Pro with a 10 Gb/s ethernet connection shows no more than 1 Gbs througput when connected to the 10 Gbs LAN port.   QOS is turned off.   It seems that something is throttling performance in the unit.    Likewise, WiFi performance is somewhat lacking with no more than 600 Mbs throughput.   Please advise.

Is there a local API for control of my network if I upgrade to this? Also is there any vlan support?

  @Riley_S Purchased and installed the 3 unit mesh.
My internet speed is 2.3gbs
I don't have any WIFI 7 devices; however, I need to maximize the speed of my ETHERNET connections.
I have the 2nd 10Gb port plugged into a 2.5GB switch using a CAT8 cable.  The maximum speed I get is  1200mbs.

How do I maximize the speed on my ethernet connections?

How do I maximize the speed of my WIFI 6 devices?

  @GKFahnbulleh,

Have you been able to perform wired tests at different points along the line to try and isolate where the slowdown is first seen.

Try wiring a device to the main deco directly and performing a test to see if the results are comparable. If they are the same, test the speed coming from your ISP to make sure that the whole bandwidth is being received.

Also, the 1200 limit that you are seeing, does this look like a hard limit or is only an approximation?

Lastly, what ONT or Gateway are you using to connect to your Deco?

The Ethernet connections can only be optimized by making sure that you are using cables that can handle the bandwidth and making sure that there are no faults in the cable. Your devices SHOULD automatically negotiate the highest speeds, but you can try to force this by changing the Auto-Negotiation speed on your PC or switch.

For your wireless device, it is a bit more difficult because it will depend on the source of the slowed performance. If you are having trouble with the range of your connection, you may try enabling beamforming or fast roaming. If you are having stability concerns, try disabling these features.

Some devices also may attempt to connect using a different node or band than what it should be using. For these cases you can look at the connection preference setting to force a specific type of connection via a node or band.

Lastly, I would recommend running the optimize feature of your network and taking a look at what devices are connected to what node - this will provide a clue as to if changes may be needed.

  @Riley_S I began to troubleshoot as you suggested.
1) Connected 2 laptops with 2.5gb USB ethernet ports directly to the 2 2.5GB ports on the Deco.
2) Ran LAN Speed Test

Result.  Maximum download 1200 Upload 800.
So this result is at the router!

  @GKFahnbulleh,

Did you try to run a speed test when directly wired to the modem? This will take the deco out of the equation and ensure that your ISP is providing the full bandwidth.
