Deco Configuration Backup
Seems like this has been requested many times across the Deco line, but there is no backup function for my Deco unit. I've checked in the mobile app and browser.
Many many reasons why this is a must have already been shared.
For me, it took me many hours to add all my DHCP reservations, update device names, etc inside the mobile app. It is imperative that we be able to back up all of this configuration work. Many stories of people losing all their work as their main unit crashes.
I read on one single thread that config data may be stored in the TPLink cloud. I haven't been able to find any other evidence to support this. Is this true?

All,
does anyone know of alternatives on the market that are similar to BE63 that do have the local config backup feature done well? Also, I'd be interested in one that has a USB that can host a SSD for Time Machine backups for new MacOS (over SMB not AFP).
that's another thread and I don't mean to bring this up here to distract, but it is another issues that TP has been dragging for too long.

@BE63_User Exactly what I'd like too. A mesh system. Local backup of our settings and a USB port for our Network shares.

@DezM Had trouble with Deco S4 (again), and got a BE6500 to troubleshoot. The BE6500 has a local backup, but it's a binary file, so will only help restoring to a working model of same type. So it doesn't help with upgrades whether forced or voluntary. But at least it's a local backup.
So TP-Link:
Upgrade all products to include a human readable (maybe XML, which could also be used for automatic restore) local backup.
This is a very basic and easily implemented solution. Maybe it would help with your US import reputation.

After all these years of no backup option at all for the X20, there is one solution that I have adopted:
NO MORE TP-LINK products ever!
Guess what, it works way better than putting up with such a non-responsive, dis-functional outfit that fails to understand what are minimum needs to make a product useable.
FYI: When years ago I asked my Telco, who on-sells these X20, about the lack of a backup option, I got the reply (Vodafone at that time) that an X20 should not be used as a router. Instead, they said use it as a Mesh Wifi only. Says it all. DO NOT BUY TP-LINK is the only sensible conclusion.
