New Archer BE550 constant disconnects
So I got this new router and I am getting constant disconnects. Not just where my devices say no internet but where my devices get totally disconnected from the router and have to reconnect. Chatted with tech support who told me to change DNS primary and secondary to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 respectively (seems to be a common response which baffles me cuz that only changes it to Google's DNS servers when it's really a router problem). That helped a little but the disconnects are back. Then was told to disconnect the USB drive and see if that helps. No still the same. I get an email this morning telling me this tech support guy is going out of town beginning tomorrow and will be back Oct 6. Which is why I'm here. It's not my modem cuz I just got a new modem from Spectrum and the problem remains with both modems. I realize this is a new router on the first firmware version but right now it's unusable becuase of the lack of reliablity.

Sorry to hear about the difficulties with your devices.
What Devices are you having difficulties with? Does the problem exist for both wireless and wired devices?
When the Devices Disconnect, do you know if the router shows an error, or if the LED lights change?
Does the disconnect happen to all devices at once, or to individual devices as you are using them?
Is your device from Spectrum a modem or a gateway? A Gateway will be able to provide its own wireless network?
Lastly, do you have any special network settings that you have to configure specifically for your network? Such as a local DHCP Server?
You may also try to look at the error log in the the WebUI to see if there are any errors reported after the behavior is observed.
I would also try to disable the QoS Settings and Your MLO networks to see if this has any effect on the behavior.

All Devices disconnect. My laptop will say not connected and will have to reconnect to the router. Same as my phones, tablets, everything gets disconnected. The LED goes shows an exclamation point until it's connected again, then shows a straigh line which means its connected. The modem from Spectrum is a modem, not a gateway. There are no special settings or passwords needed for the modem. My other two routers have no problem connecting and staying connected. Only this router has disconnect problems. At the moment I have nothing plugged into the USB port. This is the log for today. Also I can tell after its' reconnected, I go into the router settings and it will say I've only been online for a minute ot two.

@DanDaredum @Riley_S @Kevin_Z @Justyn
I received today my be550 and having same issue as opening post, below my router details.
Firmware Version:
1.0.5 Build 20231214 rel.69790(5553)
Hardware Version:
Archer BE550 v1.0
Had it twice once with my ipad and another with my s23 ultra, both times wifi icon was there, but error message saying "you don't have connection at this time"
Have QoS disabled and MLO band enabled (that's why I bought this router to use it with my wifi 7 s24 ultra and laptop)
Is there any beta firmware to test with to fix this issues?

@MSIMaker I have upgraded to 1.7 and still having the same issue, no sings of support from tp link communities people...

@Riley_S it seems a few people are having this issue. The Walmart version seems to be the worst affected. But I bought mine in Australia and we have the issue here. I have 81 devices and they randomly disconnect and reconnect 10 seconds later for no reason at all. Even the fix ip devices do this as well. My Reolink cameras switch from wifi to cellular while I am viewing them. My smart power points constantly report as offline.
Can someone at TPLink take ownership of this issue and follow up please.

Hey @MSIMaker,
Thanks for retagging me in this post so I could look for any updates.
Since the initial reports, we have had a few firmware updates aimed at mitigating some of these behaviors.
Before attempting the upgrade to the pre-release version of the firmware, try the following:
- Disable your MLO Network
- Disconnect Newly Connected Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 Devices and See if the Behavior Continues
- Please also provide a bit of information to our team regarding what devices and phones you had connected to your network.
If none of the above help, you may consider trying the pre-release firmware, or waiting for the 1.0.8 firmware to be updated and added to the official branch:
Pre-Release Firmware 1.0.8 for BE550v1 , Pre-Release Firmware for BE9300v1
If you are planning to test the pre-release version, please provide a bit more information about your network setup, along with your responses to the following questions.
Please also note that our team cannot provide support for pre-release versions - it is recommended to wait until the official firmware release if possible.
Questions for Case Collection and Troubleshooting
- Is there a common trend in the type of devices or connections that disconnect?
- Do all your devices disconnect simultaneously?
- Do both wired and wireless devices disconnect from the network?
- What is your overall network topology? (Many of these behaviors can be attributed to common mistakes or setups, such as Dual NAT.)
- Do you have any devices that take advantage of MLO, such as the latest Samsung Ultra Phones?

@Riley_S is there any changelog for the pre-release version? Will it actually help? I purchased Walmart version and having same issues. I'm planning to return but I can try pre-release firmware before returning. Thanks!

No official patch notes for the pre-release firmware, other than a general note on what portion of the software is being optimized.
In this case, there were two main optimizations made, one for your WAN connection stability (minimizing auto reboots) and one for the MLO feature and how it interacts with client devices that are receiving support for the feature, such as the newest Samsung phones.
I would recommend following the steps/questions above, as doing things such as disabling your MLO network will increase the stability of your connection until the official update is released - without the need to manually update your firmware.

@Riley_S thank you for the suggestions. I installed the beta firmware. It didn't help me with the MLO use case. One of the other use cases is the occasional inability of clients to connect to the Internet where clients experience a slow 1mbps connection speed despite being on WiFi for a short time but full speed kicks in a few seconds. This is also not resolved in beta.
