My question pertains to something on the Advanced / DHCP Server screen for the BE800 router. Under the Address Reservation section of that screen you can assign a fixed IP address for any of the devices on your LAN.

One of the options for each device/IP is an on/off switch called “Status.”  I’ve looked through the user guide for the BE800 and I haven’t found anything about what that switch does. Any clues appreciated.

Thanks.

status will probably show you if it is connected or not... test it out. add a static IP to a device and see what happens.

  @PMokover

This should be the status of the address reservation you've made - that means either this address reservation is active or not (like an on/off switch).

If this was helpful click once on the arrow pointing upward. If this solves your issue, click once the star to mark it as a "Recommended Solution".

Status is an on/off switch, not an indicator of anything. I don't see anything about it in the user guide.

Thanks for the reply. Status is an on/off switch. It's not an indicator of anything.

For the benefit of anyone else who may be following this thread, this is what the Status switch does:

When the switch is ON, the connected device will be forced to use the assigned IP address.

When the switch is OFF, the connected device can use any available LAN IP address.

Thanks TP-Link tech support.
