Model: Archer AX3200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

I have succesfully setup the AX3200 in AP mode.

In the configuration INTERNET/LAN configuration

MAc Address  xxxxxxxxxxx

IP type is set to Dynamic  with IP 192.168.0.xxx

Default gateway 192..168.0.xxx

The question is can I set the  IP type to static ?? Is it a good idea?

If I try to do this , it wants the primary DNS , should it be the same as the main router ?

The reason that I want static is that the link tplinkwifi.net never works for me on my pC and I need to use the IP address to login.

thanks

Yes, in your case it's a good idea to set a sttaic IP address in AP mode.

The DNS should be the IP address of your main router.

Any idea why the tplinkwifi page does not load on my PC but it works on my phone over wifi?

I get  the following on all 3 browsers, incognito mode, clear cache etc.

Trying to configure the Router?

It looks like you aren't connected to your TP-Link network.

To access tplinkwifi.net, your device must be connected to TP-Link Router’s network. Please check your network connection and try again.

If this issue still exists, try these following solutions:

Solution One:

Some Web browsers may have cached this page by accident, you can clear the cache and history of your browser and try again.

Besides, you can also try a different browser to access http://tplinkwifi.net.

Solution Two:

You may get the wrong DNS Server. You can use the Router's IP address http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1 to login instead of tplinkwifi.net.

It is recommended to connect your device directly to TP-Link router with the wired Ethernet cable.

Note:For Aginet Mesh Devices, Please use http://192.168.88.1 to login instead of tplinkwifi.net.

Solution Three:

Most probably it works on your phone because you're connected to the wireless SSID of the router.

If your PC is connected to your main router it won't work and you'll get that message.

I understand your answer but why it works on wifi and not with the PC  connected to the router (any technical issue you can explain?) .... I did not  read anywhere  that you need to be in wifi to use the  link? Am I mistaken?  thanks

It's in your previous post:

"To access tplinkwifi.net, your device must be connected to TP-Link Router’s network".

If your PC is connected to your main router but not AX3200 it won't work.

That's not a technical issue and is nothing to worry about.

What you can do is to set AX3200 IP address to 192.168.0.254 (outside your main router's DHCP pool).

That if your main router is with LAN IP address 192.168.0.1 - hus you''ll always know AX3200 IP address (for accessing its web management).

I set the IP of the AX3200 AP  to the IP address given by the router  when it was not  on static mode.

So my main router IP 192.168.0.100

the Ax3200 AP is on IP 192.168.0134 (static now) <<<---------------- Is this wrong?  I did not reboot the router  yet but  I can connect from anywhere using the IP address of both devices.

No, it's no worng. It's just your choice of numbers. Once with static IP address AX3200 can be accessed from anywhere via its IP address.

Thanks for your quick responses. Last question .. in your message above you mentioned to set the IP address 254 (outside your main router's DHCP pool). I am wondering  does this have an advantage?

I'll give you an example:

Lets ssay your main rouuter is with IP address 192.168.0.100.

Lets say that its DHCP server pool is within the range 192.168.0.101 to 192.168.0.199

If you set a static IP address on AX32000 to 192.168.0.254 it won't interfere with any other device that may log into your network.

Thus any possible IP address conflicts will be avoided.
