Wireless devices showing up as wired
Issue:
Wireless devices will show up as wired connected clients which prevents managing the connection preferences. This is troublesome when the device is connected (wirelessly) to a unit furthest away and showing as wired.
Network Hardware:
My Deco mesh system is actually BE63 but that wasn't an option to select in the model field. I have 5 units total, 2 are X55s which are on Firmware version 1.5.5 Build 20240718 Rel. 44414.

Hey @Tako2sday,
Thanks for reaching out. We recently received a test firmware for a behavior where wireless devices on the X55 will show as offline, so I think it is safe to assume that optimizations to this feature are on their way.
Do you have an X55 or a BE63 set as the main node of your network? If you are using a X55 as your main node, I would highly recommend using the BE63. One, it may resolve the problem, and it will also provide a much stronger backbone for your entire network to connect to.
Lastly, do you have a switch in your network configuration? If your nodes are connected back to the main node through a switch, some devices can appear as wired.

The BE63 is set at the main. The devices are showing online, just connected as a wired connection which isn't accurate and limits management capabilities. Will the optimizations for the test firmware also correct this issue in addition to the offline issue you mentioned?
I do not have a switch connected.

X60 here doing the same, maybe?
I have a reolink camera that is physically closer to one X60 so I wanted to force it to that one. After doing this the reolink now thinks it is wired and not wireless. I can't change it back.
Brand new deco system, fully updated firmware, AP mode to my main ATT Router. Two of the three deco are setup with Ethernet backhaul, the main and one other, which is the one I wanted the reolink to go to. Unplugged the ethernet from that one makes no difference the reolink still shows as wired.
Really irritating issue. I'm about ready to take the deco system back to BestBuy and try a different mesh system.

Had any updates?
I have an X20 setup here doing the same.
I have a three pod setup with a TV box connected to one X20.
Had the X20's for a couple of years in Router mode and only recently needed to change to use AP mode.
The main deco is connected to the router and the other two connected via Wifi.
After changing to AP mode, it seems a number of mobile devices now show as connected by ethernet instead of wifi.
Really irritating issue as it seems that the devices will now not roam to connect to the best signal from the nearest pod and are now stuck connected to the main deco.

I experience the same behaviour with my XE75(2.0) firmware version "1.2.9 Build 20240724 Rel. 39578"
ISP's cable modem -> Main Deco -> Hallway deco (wirelessly connected to main deco) -> Asus RT-AX86S configured in access point mode (wired into Hallway deco) -> Son's iphone
In the above setup, my son's iphone shows us as wired.
My above setup is complicated and unfortunate. I'm forced to do it this way because of Deco XE75's lack of wireless auto-block feature: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/649846?replyId=1438202
I'm using my Asus router to enforce MAC filtering on the Asus router's wireless network (where I white-listed only a few mac addresses).

Archer 1500 and yet two re750 satellites. None set as AP. Archer keeps switching my Rokus to wired and then they won't work. Reboot Archer and they go back for a while. I think it may have something to do with them setup as smart mesh or whatever they call it. Nice to see TP is so helpful. My 8 year old Netgear has less issues. These may be going back if I'm still in return window.
