Hi all, looking for suggestions on getting the most coverage on a 2,000sq/ft home with Ethernet in every room.
I would like to get rid of my Comcast gateway, what should I install that works well with Deco?
I think 2 indoor and 1 outdoor units should suffice, but what else is needed to complete the system?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've been out of the loop for awhile.

@eCamp78 why do you want to get rid of your Comcast gateway?
Is it a cable modem? If yes, you need another cable modem, compatible with your ISP.

A few questions here and some answers to clarify might help.
I assume you DO NOT have Ethernet in every room and want wireless units in each room that have an Ethernet connector?
If so, most Deco sets have those as do most routers that can be used to do that.
Otherwise, getting coverage for wireless in that size house is easy (depending on construction tyoe and number of floors).
If you desire is to get rid of the Comcast Gateway, you'll need to consult your ISP to see WHAT they allow as replacement. However, you'd still need other routers or a Deco set to cover getting Ethernet into all rooms.

This is the 'tricky' part. Somehow you need 3 individual' Ethernet ports... but IS one that you now use from the Gateway? If no, then you'd only need a 2 unit Deco set, but if not, a 3 unit one. To top that off, it must be capable of being outside. TP-Link does sell a single OUTDOOR Deci unit, https://www.tp-link.com/us/deco-mesh-wifi/product-family/deco-x50-outdoor/, that could be added to a 2 unit Deco set.
However there is still the Gateway issue. Is the Gateway 'standard' WAN wall connection or a Fibre one? It it is WAN ethernet on the wall, than the Deco would connect to it via a cable to the WAN port on the Deco, so, you'd either need a 3 or 4 set, one for the main room there the Gateway is today, then 3 other for the 2 rooms and one outdoor, which would be an individual purchase.
It might sound easy, but there are some connections between devices that need to be made and deco units connect wireless, so distances and obstructions matter here.
Also the desired speeds... ALL wired, not and issue unless you wanted more than 1Gbps speed. Wireless speed if you are or do plan on having wireless devices connect also would play into the deco selection.

I have a coaxial cable connected to the gateway in my den, from there i have an ethernet cable going to the living room connected to a nighthawk router in AP mode, then i have ethernet cable going to 3 bedrooms. Problem is the walls are old and have metal lathing and plaster, so the wifi in my bedroom and back yard is bad. I could probably run one more ethernet i have unused in the attic to the patio for the outdoor unit, but it will be tough.

I have 2Gbps service, but my Wifi is stuck below 500mb in the rroms on the otherside of the house from where the Nighthawk is. I would like to keep everything 1 brand, minus the modem since TP doesnt make one.

@eCamp78 You can just purchase a compatible modem, and connect the main Deco by Ethernet cable to the modem.
I assume you would put the main Deco in the living room.
You would put the indoor satellite Deco somewhere, connected by Ethernet cable to the main Deco.
Ideally, the outdoor Deco would also be connected to another Deco by Ethernet. You could use that Ethernet cable to power the outdoor POE Deco, if you add a POE injector.
You will probably configure your modem to run in "non router mode", as a bridge, and run the Deco mesh in Router mode.
You could as well run the modem in router mode, and the Deco mesh in Access Point mode, but that would prevent using some of the "value added features" of the Deco.

You need a compact Deco to install on the ceiling, that would be the X50-POE Deco.
You can power it via the Ethernet cable (using a POE injector).
You can mix and match various models of Deco. Do you actually require more than 1 Gbps from/to Internet? Where in the house? You wrote "my Wifi is stuck below 500mb in some rooms". Do you actually require more?
- main Deco in the den,
- a satellite in the living room, connected by one Ethernet cable to the main Deco,
- a satellite in the bedrooms, connected by Ethernet cable to the Deco in the living room
- the outdoor Deco would be connected by Ethernet cable to which other Deco? If there are no available Ethernet port on a Deco, you can add a switch.

Do you actually require more? Not any more really, i got my kids gaming rig connected to ethernet directly, just need reliable wifi to watch 4k/8k and keep Sonos sound sysytem inside and outside healthy.
- main Deco in the den, Was thinking an XE75 PRO here
- a satellite in the living room, connected by one Ethernet cable to the main Deco, Correct, whats a good option to go with the above X75?
- a satellite in the bedrooms, connected by Ethernet cable to the Deco in the living room This will have to be the XE50 nPOE ceiling mount in the hallway bewteen all 3 bedrooms
- the outdoor Deco would be connected by Ethernet cable to which other Deco? If there are no available Ethernet port on a Deco, you can add a switch. Would have to be either the XE75 in Den, or the X50 POE, depending on which end will make it easiest to run cable outdoors. Which injector will be best for these runs?

@eCamp78 I believe anything from X50 is good for the living room.
You will need two POE injectors, one per POE Deco.
The POE injector must be connected to the power, it has an Ethernet entry from one Deco, and an Ethernet POE exit to the POE Deco.
POE injectors are commodity products.
Deco X50-PoE consumes up to 18W.
The X50 - Outdoor 17W.
