I've got a garage about 150 feet from my home with a coaxial cable connecting them.  I have been unable to get a consistent wifi signal from the house to the garage; it's just a bridge too far.  I've tried more power, I've tried directional items - I think it may be that the paint / construction of the garage just makes this infeasible.  In any event, I'm not trying to get a signal *through* the wall any longer, I need a different approach.

So I got a pair of coax to Cat5/RJ-45 adapters (powered).  I have one RE220 serving as a wireless adapter inside the house; it is set up so that it is not broadcasting any access point signal.  The connection to the coaxial is fine, and in the garage, the coaxial device has signal.  So far, so good.

The moment I plug the RE220 in the *garage* into the coax adapter - and it's set to be a network extender - everything (literally, every device) in the house goes haywire.  If it's plugged into the wall - in other words, on and functioning - everything is still fine.  But the moment there's a wired connection available, we're up the creek.  The machine that is literally 15 feet from my wireless access point - that works perfectly fine and has for years - all of a sudden begins to lose wireless connectivity; a continuous ping to an internet host drops nearly 50% of the packets.

OneMesh is off because that made the situation worse in my tests.  The RE220's appear to be configured correctly, but there's no "documentation" about how to properly set an RE220 as a wireless adapter.  All firmware is up to date.

I'm befuddled.  Ideas?
