Hi,

I hvae put the TP Link extender in access mode and hard wired an ethernet cable from my router into the TP Link extender in my loft. The internet now works great throughout the house very happy. However, I want to be able to see the TP Link extender on the tether app, when ever I try it says failed contact support. I also cannot access the extender anymore through the original IP address. I went onto my router settings and found the assigned IP address my router had given my extender. My question is:

When the extender is in access mode how do I now see the extender on the tether app?

I have called TP Link support one agent said get your assigned IP address for the extender and we can sort. Another agent said you cant access the extender in the tether app in access mode.

@toz18 I do have this model extender but it has been a long time since I used it in Access Point mode.  A couple of things to try off the top of my head:

1.  Try to move the device with the Tether App so it connects directly to the RE.  (Directions refer to this as a "local connection").  Then open the Tether App.  If this works quickly check for firmware updates.  I believe there is a quite recent one released.

2.  Download the latest firmware onto a PC.  (I vaguely remember) having to disconnect the Ethernet cable, connect a PC directly to the RE, then accessing the IP in a browser, next manually uploading any firmware update.  Finally reconnecting the Ethernet to reestablish it as an AP.
