Can two Deco S4 be wired to the network and act as meshed access points
Hello,
I have 3 Deco S4s on a network with roaming enabled. Two of the Decos are hard wired (Deco1 and Deco2).
What happens is that one of them (Deco1) is the main repeater, when I stand next to it and measure the throughput to the internet I get 400 Mbs. When I stand next to the other Deco (Deco2) that is hard wired I get a throughput of 200 Mbs.
If I make Deco2 the main repeater I get a throughput of 400 Mbs. So when Deco1 is the main repeater and Deco2 is hard wired Deco2 is still pulling sending the data over the wireless network to Deco1 instead of going out over the wired network. As proof of this I disconnected the wired network from Deco2 and the throughput stayed at 200 Mbs (Deco1 was the main repeater.
My question is can I get Deco2 to move data through the wired network while also being in the mesh network? I know under advance setting there is an option to change the WiFi mode from Wi-Fi Router to Access Point. I have not tried this, but I suspect that this would turn all 3 Decos into access points. That would mean the third Deco would loose internet connection due to the lack of a wired connection.
Does anyone have insight into this.
Thanks,
Larry
