So using Free File Sync between my wired desktop and my wireless laptop, the local file transfer will pause randomly for about 20 seconds at a time and then resume for a random amount of time and then pause again for about 20 seconds.  When I do wireless to wireless it transferred without pausing, however the wireless on my older desktop is a lot slower than the 1GB LAN (it is only 802.11n so wired is preferred).

This is driving me crazy, I need to get this resolved, this did not happen with my older router...

  @2SS-Capt,

Its defintely not an expected behavior, but I have a feeling that the older network card may be a factor here.

With the upgrades that came since Wireless N, there have been quite a few changes affecting how devices are able to communicate directly with each other over the network. For your laptops wireless connection, I would recommend turning off any advanced features such as Fast Roaming, as older network cards can experieince difficulties, but it is not very common anymore.

Do you have your PC wired directly into your Decos? Could it be possible that a wired network switch is interfering with the transfer?

On an advanced note, you can use your command console to run tracert commands to a website or device. This will show each step along the data's path and may be able to point you towards a problematic link.

  @Riley_S My desktop is wired directly to my main Deco, my new laptop is wireless to the main Deco.  This same behavior happens with my older laptop as well and didn't occur prior to upgrading to the Deco system. I even replaced the network cable from my desktop with no change.

The pauses are always almost exactly 20 seconds, however when it starts transferring again, the time that it transfers prior to the next pause is completely random.

My desktop is a Windows 10 Dell XPS8900, my laptop is a new Lenovo with Windows 11.  Used both prior to the Decos with no issue, issue only surfaced after upgrading to the Deco system.  I am transferring the files using FreeFileSync and have been using this for years without issue.

Thanks for your reply, I hope you can escalate this issue for further investigation and resolution.
