Model: Archer AXE95
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.6

Hello so I have HA with several dozen integrations running on my TPLink AXE95 router, including some using wifi. Specifically, I have 2 TPLink Kasa lightswitchs (HS200) and 2 Kasa Smartplugs (103s). I've noticed that all 4 lose connection throughout the day. Sometimes I can go long stretches without issue, other times its every few minutes. I am trying to troubleshoot the issue but not sure what else to try here. I'm, wondering if the issue is simply with TP Link specifically at this point because none of my other wifi devices do this. Bond, Tuya, Govee2MQTT, etc all seem to operate just fine. It seems this issue really started on 3/31 at 3am when I have my router set to auto reboot (weekly reboot schedule)

  1. I run pihole so I temporarily disabled this to ensure not related - no change

  2. I tried different 2.4gz channels on my router as these devices all use 2.4ghz (using the best one based on congestion) - no change

  3. In the TP Link app I set Third Party compatibility to ON

  4. All devices have static IP via DHCP reservation on my AXE95 router.

  5. Rebooted the router of course. Ironically sometimes the disconnects happen more after my scheduled reboot every Monday at 3am which is odd.

  6. In the TP Kasa app, checking each devices signal strength. They range from -32dBm to -40dBm which I believe would be considered excellent

Is there something I'm maybe missing from a troubleshooting perspective? Below is from Home Assistant showing the connection. Grey is off, Yellow is On, but the black parts are what concerns me, where you can see hundreds of small vertical black lines starting 3/31. Thanks

Hey @Roach19,

I also saw your post on our subreddit for this - we have a more more thorough Home Assistant Community on our subreddit than our forums and you are more likely to receive support from the community on the topic, rather than from our team.

Unfortunately, the HA integration for Tapo is community developed and doesnt have much to do with our systems other than the backend authentication. We only officially support Google, Samsung, Apple, and Alexa. I want to say that the HA integration is Local Control over our devices, meaning it wouldnt depend on our system's cloud status - but for Kasa this would depend on the developer taking advantage of its local API.

Also, Home Assistant is faar more susceptible to breaking updates at both an OS and individual integration level. Given that the devices started having problems after the final restart of the month, I would be inclined to believe its something with the integration or a result of another update made to HA. I have a few devices in Home Assistant, but I do not see anything similar to yours on my own setup.

I will keep an eye out, but this is likely more a behavior that should be brought to the community integration's developers. If it is a confirmed behavior at that point, they can work with our engineers.

One thing that can be done is checking to see if the devices are disconnecting from the network at all during this period, or if its only the HA connection that breaks. I would also try to verify that the devices funtion normally through the Tapo app at these times if possible.

Lastly, given that it does seem to occur after a reboot:

- Disable Fast Roaming for the Problematic Devices

- Connect the Devices to a 2.4GHz only network

- Set the devices up in HA using its IP rather than auto-discovery

@Riley_S Thank you for the thorough reply. I also appreciate the suggestion and will try the git of the integration (or HA forums as well).

Regarding some of your lower points

1. My apologies what is fast roaming? Is this the same as Smart Connect? If so, that is disabled in my AXE95

2. I do have separate networks for 2.4, 5, and 6ghz currently. I am not sure if the mix of device type makes a difference here (b/n/g/ax) tho. I believe I have it set to all options currently for my 2.4

3. All of the 4 devices are current given static IPs by way of DHCP reservation. I will double check but when I go into the configure of the device I believe it shows the device. I realize you dont support this as its a community integration but perhaps there is a different method I need to initially add them which is what you are referring to? From what I recall I am adding the integration, then supplying my login credentials and they are pulled in at that time. Not sure if there is something different here?

I suppose one other thing I failed to mention. I did update my firmware on my AXE95 about a month back. There may be some correlation there. I just dont recall the specifics of the timing and wasnt tracking this issue then. I believe I can downgrade the firmware without too much hassle so maybe thats worth a try as well.  I believe I was on 1.1.4 but then moved to 1.1.6 (newest) on the V1 hardware

Another question for you, with this router are there any tools/logs I can use to check the disconnections from the network? I see a section in the Admin for logs but it is blank and not terribly helpful. Not sure if there is some other way to enable this or maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? I will add that using the Kasa app and controlling outside of HA, some of the devices are sluggish to respond. And to be honest, none of these devices are things I change often so I dont even recall if that is normal behavior at this point. (Most of my devices are zigbee/zwave so I just assume the wifi devices will naturally be slower)

I appreciate it
