ax55 shared usb printer

After reading for an hour or more it still isn't clear to me that I can attach my usb printer to the router and use it as a shared device. Found an article saying that only some older models can do this and the info tp-link chat bot sent me to only talks about sharing files, hard drive, media, etc. Nothing about printers. If I can use this model router to share a printer, then how do I go about doing it? There is no printer download for this model under downloads. thanks

As far as I know, the USB port only supports a USB drive/Flash Drive. Also the 'sharing' is a Sanba Server and Media server..
If you have a Printer that can go on LAN, the it can eaily be shared.
Some older Routers did have a 'Print Server' feature though, so a Printer could be plugged into it, but I don't think TP-Link or other vendors do this anymore.
It seems TP-Link does sell a USB Printer Server (https://www.tp-link.com/us/home-networking/print-server/tl-ps110u/) and you can get it on Amazon. Doesn't work, usually has Free returns.
My HP printer, and the older ones I've replaced all were WiFi or Ethernet connectable, so a Printer Server was not needed. I assume you only have a USB connection.
It is possible you could connect the printer to a PC and share that printer over the LAN too. Of course it might require the PC on even when not in use.

Thanks for your answer. Both the download page and bot chat say that the AX55 supports printer connectivity but I am directed to a page that only has info on media and hard drive types of connectivity. Is there any access to actual TP-Link support humans? Guess I won't return TP-Link router for this disappointment. At least I can connect my external hard drives which is more important. Bought a print only, USB only, non-wifi printer (canon TS202) for my small living space. I deplore the printer marketplace with huge, multi-purpose, over featured, $$$$ printers and incredibly costly ink! Appreciate your help. @IrvSp

Yes, it does support printers... just not via the USB port...
I happen to have an AX55 here, and the box.
This is on the back of the box:
No mention of a Printer.
We've been using HP printer's for years... had many other vendor ones, and none offer cheap 'ink'. I've tried the replacement refilled cartridges, and although cheaper, they had some problems, low ink volume/page count compared to the branded inks. Some clogged quickly as well. Some printers do seem to have cheaper alternatives with refillable ink chambers.
HP's offer 2 cartridge sizes too, the Large one is good if you print a lot. Otherwise the smaller 'standard' size is cheaper.
We do NOT print a lot. We had been buying the large cartridges about every year or year and a half. 1 black and 3 colors on some of the printers.
Right now, have this HP printer:
Does everything, wireless and 2 side printing as well as scanning. The exact model is 7955e, and cost is around 2 hundred dollars, However, when we needed ink, it ran us about as much as the printer on some models. This particular on has only 2 cartridges, 1 3 color and 1 black. Official HP XL cartridges run about one hundred for both.
We decided to do HP Instant Ink, the 50 sheet per month plan at 5 dollars/mo. Can roll-over up to 150 sheets if we do not use all in a month. Need to print more, a dollar for 10 more sheets if you have no rollover left.
That comes to 60 dollars a year for ink worst case, or even 120 dollars over 2 years, assuming we didn't need ink for 2 years is a stretch. Before that if 'dormant' ink would probably dry out (and yes, it has happened to us and they sent new ink, black is used mostly, and color stops printing) and they replace it before empty.
However, if you get a Print Server, I suspect it would work too..

Should've read the box instead of going online! LOL. Loved my very old, simple, compact HP printer that just died. HP no longer sold ink for it. Someone getting rid of their old printer in 2009 gave it to me. My ink dried up all the time so I finally switched to re-filled cartridges. @IrvSp
