Main router replacement
I have a wifi mesh network with 5 Deco x55/60 routers. The 'main' router is a Deco x60.
The main X60 is assigned a static IP of x.x.x.1. The Deco DHCP has several reserved addresses; It connects to the cable modem.
PCs on the newtwork have network connections with a 'default route' of x.x.x.1
I have a new Deco XE75 and want it to replace the current x60 'main' router.
I think I need to do the steps listed below. Can someone verify the steps..and the sequence for doing them?
Or - Is there a simpler way to do this? THANKS
- Power off all Decos.
- Remove the current Main X60 and disconnect the cable modem..
- Connect my PC to the Deco XE75 with an ethernet cable, and assign a static address of x.x.x.1
- Manually add the DHCP reserved MAC addresses.
- Connect the Deco XE75 to the cable modem. Power on.
- Connect my PC to it and verify wiff and Internet working. Verify Deco app works.
- Power on the other Deco units.
- Use the Deco App to 'change Main router' to the new XE75.
