Model: Deco BE11000
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I am following the instructions to migrate for my Deco X5000 to my BE11000. It fails about a quarter of the way through. None of the remedies in the Deco app work. What can I do next to migrate to the new main router and retain all of my settings?

See if the following steps work

1. Reset all of your Deco units by pressing the reset button on each one.

2. Using the Deco app, set up your newest Deco as the main unit. Since you have factory reset each unit, you will be able to use the same network SSID and password as before.

3. Once the newer model is operational, return to the app and add the remaining Decos to your network.

Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? Router or AP mode? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1

@MichaelJO There are two methods one is swap a satellite to become main, the other is to replace main with a "fresh out of the box" unit.  Have you attempted both ways?

@HelpFixDecoApp wouldn't performing a factory reset on all of the Deco devices cause me to lose all of my network settings?

I tried both. In the end, I kept resetting the new Deco and it finally migrated to it as the main unit. It has something to do with losing Internet access during the migration. At one point it finally asked me if I’d like to use cellular data. I said yes, and it completed successfully.

Yes it would but as you have experienced on more than one attempt the recommenced way to do it doesn't always work. Glad you were able to finally get it working :)
