I am having permissions issues with the Hard Drive I have connected to this Router.  I have seen other threads on other models but those solutions didn't work on this.

I have tried the settings that I can get to in my router log-in and nothing seems to fix the problem that I can write files TO this drive but once that has happened I cannot modify those files.  I can delete files but not modify as well.  It's not Windows specific, it's happening in Android and Linux access as well. The drive formatting that was suggested as being a culprit isn't a factor with this drive.

 

Any ideas?  It's been escallated at TP to be investigated by their people as well.

I looked at the Emulator for your Web Gui USB setup:

 

If you TURN OFF Secured Sharing all restrictions disappear...

NOTE, by DEFAULT 2 different ADMIN Sign-in, and one with a different P/W can do all access it would seem?

  @IrvSp Have that in that position...isn't getting it done.

 

I've tried formatting as Fat32, NTFS, exFAT.  Windows can read these as well as Linux, but if I format to Linux's ext4 then the router can't see it.

Without the permissions transferring through the router it's not able to see what's permitted with each file.  Only that a file can be saved to the drive and that the user can delete files.

 

About all I know right now.  TP-Link higher ups are aware of this and have opened a ticket on it.  No idea when that will be resolved.  It's funny that in Windows 10 I can open the same sample document in Office 2021 and it will open and will let me override the protected thing and even re-save the document to the same attached storage.  Just not in Linux or in Android.

  @MacGyverDB Might as well lock the thread.  TP-Link Tech Support says it's built into the router to do this. Supposedly to keep it from corrupting the files.

So there is no work around other than what they said.  Download, edit, re-upload to overwrite the file.
