Hello everyone,

I've searched and experimented on this issue for some weeks, and I'm at the end of my tether.

I have an Archer AX11000, and have for a long time had the OpenVPN server set up.  I use the official OpenVPN Connect app.

However, recently I've been trying on one of my laptops (Dell XPS) on which I use Adobe Premiere Pro to edit videos for my YouTube channel, to connect to my home network when I'm elsewhere (either my office a coffee shop, or through my cell provider's hotspot).

I've noticed that OpenVPN's throughput is just way too slow to allow me to work on video editing in Premiere Pro.  So, I've been trying to set up L2TP/IPSec to see if it would be faster and thus better able to support the higher throughput, without constantly having to download all of the home-network files required by Premiere Pro to a USB drive and back again.

I've been toying with Windows' method of IPSec VPN - but for some reason, I can't get it to split-tunnel.  When I have the remote gateway option selected in Windows, I can see my home network, but the laptop's Internet access gets cut off.  When I deselect the remote gateway option in Windows, I can access the Internet, but can't reach the home network even though the VPN says it's connected to the router's L2TP/IPSec server.

The goal is to try out L2TP/IPSec through the AX11000 router but use it in split mode - access only the home network through the VPN setting, but not to "turn off" the local machine's local Internet access through its Wifi connection.

I did read somewhere that the BE router series has a "full" option which equates to full or split tunnelling, but can't find a similar setting on the AX11000.

Does anyone know if there's some setting that I'm missing here on the AX11000, or is this router even capable of it?  Do I just need to scrap this thing and buy a new TP-Link router?

Any assistance would help!

@BereanPK  Maybe this post helps, (if also available on your router model):
