Hello,

Just wanted to know if my current system TP-Link BE11000(4 units) WiFi 7 is compatible with Deco BE25 Dual-Band BE5000 WiFi 7?  I am asking because I like the small form factor and would be using this in my game room.

As you can see that the BE11000 currently on my desk is quite bulky.

And will adding another Deco to my existing 5 cause any issues?  I believe I remember reading the more satellite on a mesh system can degrade the speed?  With the 4 satellite setup they been great reaching my ISP speeds at 500Mbps

Thanks.

According to our knowledge base, all Deco models—including the BE11000 and BE25 (also known as BE5000)—are designed to be compatible with each other, allowing you to mix and match different Deco units within the same mesh network. This means you can add the smaller Deco BE25 to your current BE11000 system for use in your game room.

Regarding the number of satellites, while Deco systems support adding more units for better coverage, adding too many in a small area or placing them too close together can sometimes lead to reduced speeds due to increased wireless hops and potential interference. However, with proper placement and considering your current ISP speed of 500Mbps, adding one more Deco should not cause significant issues, especially if you connect the units via Ethernet backhaul or maintain reasonable distances between them. If you notice any speed drops, you can optimize the placement or adjust the connection preferences in the Deco app.

Need help with the Deco app, setup, Ethernet backhaul, network switch or rolling back firmware? Router or AP mode? https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/699816?page=1

@VoodooGTSR Adding mesh nodes of different specs does complicate things, as mentioned.  Part depends on backhaul WiFi vs Ethernet backhaul.  Also some features are limited by the lowest spec node.  In order for seamless roaming to function channel and bandwidth on all stations need to match, so unless you are willing to forgo mesh to the new BE25 and run it in access point mode (or repeater mode if available) then all four BE11000s would have to match their outputs.
