Two deco units
Ok installed master (router cat5) and slave living room. Slave works perfect. Phone on band 6. Walk into bedroom and band is 2.4. What is causing this.

Well, under 'normal' router (single wi-fi source) this could be 'normal'.
You have a 2 unit Deco Set, and distances need to be known to tell if this is 'normal'?
The 2nd Deco, I assume is NOT wired? That is it used the wireless Backhaul. Too far from the main Deco could be part of the problem.
Possible a Phone 'setting' as will plays into this.
Normally, the 2.4Ghz SSID will travel the furthest distance from the 'source' than the 5 or 6 Ghz SSID.

So, it could be normal.
The Phone might be part of the problem as well or the Deco app...
Some phones will 'switch' bands for a stronger signal, and that would be the 2.4Ghz one in this case. Other reason could be the Deco App setting for the Device.
In the Deco App, click on the Device and then Connection Preferences. You will see this listed at the bottom:
I am OK wiht the Auto, as I'm using MLO SSID (all three bands, 2.4, 5, and 6Ghz) on my iPhone. Deco app doesn't really 'support' MLO in terms of using it as a 'setting'.
So, as you can see on the last line there, unless you set the device to a specific band (6Ghz) it can switch on you.
Try setting the phone to 6Ghz and see if it stays there, and look at the wireless icon, does it have full bars or not? If it doesn't, maybe that is why it went to 2.4Ghz.
It may not be distance from the Deco itself, but other 'interference' item that make the 2.4Ghz SSID a better choice.

I don't know what to tell you?
I've got Spectrum and I had a BE65 V2 which is the same as the BE1100 which is sold only by CostCo it appears... and I had a 3 Deco set. Now replaced by a BE68 3 Deco set.
Although I never recall checking the phone, I do recall when looking at it that it was on the Deco nearest to the phone.

So lets start with the first obvious thing to try, REBOOT all the Deco's... can do that in the Deco App. Then test speeds again.
You never stated distances between devices and the Deco they were connected too?
Do you get the SAME SPEED in all locations?
Are the DEVICE settings correct in both the phone and Deco App?
Under the phone Advanced settings in the Deco app the Preferred Deco and Wi-Fi Band should be AUTO.
By the way, I assume you have 600Mbps service from Spectrum, correct?
If so, then to get the 530Mbps down you have to have an IEEE 802.11 AC device connected to it at 5 or 6Ghz... to get 270Mbps would have that device connected to 2.4Ghz.
Again, not knowing the Distance and IF the phone changed Deco's as you moved around the house (the Connection Preference NOT set to AUTO or desired Deco not set to Auto) could make it stay connected to the wrong Deco, the one far away vs. the nearby one. That could cause the phone to switch to the 2.4Ghz band as the 5 (or 6) Ghz band was TOO WEAK to have the device stay connected and then connect to the only SSID it could, the 2.4Ghz.
