Model: Deco BE63
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

We have ATT fiber optics via a Nokia BGW 320 supplied by ATT. I've installed three nodes, (one direct wired to the modem, as per instructions.) The house is an old L-shaped, sprawling 1-story Frankin-Ranch style concrete block structure that's been added to a few times before we bought it to total 2800sf. So, lots of retaining walls that have become inside walls. From the modem to the node in our bed room is a 45' straight line of sight. The node sits on the window sill. Outside, about 7' from the node, I tried to install a Baseus S2 security camera off the eve. It started strong, but within 30 minutes the security camera got no more love from the wifi. Uninstalled, dragged it back to the other side of the window, and set it next to the resident node, and the signal has spent the last three days bouncing between medium and weak according to the Baseus app. The node is RIGHT THERE. Like, 2' away. Nothing between camera and node but air.

I've turned it off and on again. I've forgotten then re-connected the camera. I've cussed at it. I've shifted the node about. I'm considering hardwiring the modem-node to the satellite-node. The camera is fully charged. There's just two people living here using 3 ipads, two phones, 2 smart tvs, two watches, and one Apple computer. No partridges in a pear tree. What do I need to do next? My first thought was to get an outdoor extender and hard wire it to the node just inside the window. But if the node is getting/giving a weak signal, what good would that do? Anyone got any help? Thanks

@Chiere If you have it connected to a SSID with 2.4 & 5 Ghz under the same name, that can cause issues, especially on IOT devices.  I had the issue before.  Setup either an IOT or guest network with just 2.4 enabled and connect the camera to it.  I'm pretty confident it will solve it.

@Chiere It honestly sounds like the camera is connecting to the main router vs the node.  Can you somehow check/confirm which it is connecting to?

@Chiere In the Deco app, click on Main, under online devices.  Find the camera, click on it and it will tell which node it is connected to.

@BradLouKy thanks for such a quick reply!
That works for getting a strong signal to the camera, at least inside the house 4' away from the node. Wanna make sure it all works before I drag it all up a ladder and install it. But now I can't get my phone to connect to the camera. I then changed the phone's wifi access to the same one the camera is on, and it still can't connect to the camera. The phone's an iPhone 15. They are 2" apart.

Any ideas on what to try next? Thanks!

@jzchen Thanks for replying so quickly!

You were correct. So I set up a guest channel, and the signal is (currently) strong. I'm also still inside. Not dragging it all up a ladder till it all works. But now my phone can't find it. So I put the phone on the same channel as the camera. Still won't access the camera.

Not only is this frustrating, but the thought that I'll have to fiddle-fart my way into my cameras' wifi just to watch horses graze and yell at kids climbing the fence into the pasture is exhausting. Any ideas? Thanks!

@BradLouKy TY, It was indeed connecting to the main mesh network. Now it has its own guest channel.

@Chiere If it on IOT network, it can't access your local network.  That is the point of the IOT network.

Try moving the camera to the guest network, again making sure only 2.4 is enabled

This is a security issue.  You don't want anyone hopping onto your network and gaining control of your cameras, so it is likely that if you want to switch to a guest channel, you'd need to set up the cameras from scratch...

There should be a Version number on the SN stickers, also which firmware are you on, (the latest I hope)?
