Connecting to cable modem plus router
I am connecting the Deco W6000 mesh to a Motorola MG8702 cable modem plus AC3200 Wi-Fi router. Should I use the existing network name or set up a new name? If I set up a new name do I then change settings on all devices to the new network name? I have laptops, tablets, and TV on the existing network.

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you are setting up a Deco Mesh system and wondering whether to use your existing network name (SSID) or create a new one, and what this means for your connected devices like laptops, tablets, and TVs.
When installing your Deco Mesh system, you have the option to either use your current Wi-Fi network name (SSID) or create a new one during the setup process in the Deco APP. Here are some key points to consider:
1. Using the Existing Network Name (SSID):
• If you set the Deco Mesh to use the same SSID and password as your previous network, your devices (laptops, tablets, TVs, etc.) should automatically reconnect to the new Deco Wi-Fi without needing to update their settings. This makes the transition smoother and minimizes the need to manually reconnect each device.
2. Creating a New Network Name:
• If you choose a new SSID and/or password, you will need to update the Wi-Fi settings on all your devices to connect them to the new network. This can be a good opportunity to update your network security or organize your devices, but it does require manual changes on each device.
Additional Setup Information:
• The main Deco unit should be connected to your Motorola modem/router via Ethernet cable. The Deco system will then provide Wi-Fi coverage throughout your home, and you can add satellite Deco units to expand coverage.
• The Deco APP will guide you through the setup process, including creating your network name and connecting to the Internet.

Note: If you already have a Deco system running and want to add another Deco network, enter the Deco APP dashboard and tap the "+" at the top right corner to create a new network.
