Ok here's a weird one for the group!

Last night my wife wasn't able to log into her three Etsy stores.  The Etsy website kept saying "An error has occurred, please try again later!"  This just started last night and we've had no issues before this.

I was able to log into her Etsy stores from my laptop going through my hotspot with verizon.   I completely bypassed my home network.   We thought it was a hacker trying to get into her business on Etsy to steal her money etc.   However the evidence we have does not support that theory.  Bank account information is still the same and was not changed on any of her 3 Etsy stores.    So hacker theory, likely not.

I then started testing our home network to see where the choke was.  Removed the NetGear switch from my network so order of operations goes   Spanish Fork Utah internet (which is AMAZING by the way) into Slot 1 of the Deco X60 base unit, then Slot 2 out of Deco X60 base unit to my wife desktop.  This is all wired with cat 6 cable.   Result still get the error message saying "An error has occurred, please try again later!"

I have logged in without issue from my laptop using hotspot with verizon my cell phone carrier.

So the question is why is Deco X60 blocking my Etsy logins?

I've got the Deco app setup on my phone.   I've updated the firmware, checked block sites (etsy) not on the list, moved the computer up as high priority on the QoS setup, checked to see if there was an approved list at all for websites (did'nt find any etc).   So things are really strange....  it makes no sense at all.

So this is where I'm at.... Stuck!   I hope someone has seen this before or has some additional information I can check or do etc...

@yosh62 Question for you.  You said that you could login on your laptop using the hotspot.  So, is this the same laptop giving you issues while on your home network or another laptop?  If it is two laptops, will the laptop that can login thru the hotspot login thru your regular network?

Also, long shot but are you using a VPN?  Some sites block access thru VPN's.

Hi   @BradLouKy !!

Sure thing.  My laptop is an X1 Carbon by lennvo.  Same laptop and I get different results when I log into Etsy depending on what network I'm on.   From my X1 laptop using only my hotspot with Verizon, I can log into Etsy without issue.   But if I use my X1 laptop and try to log into Etsy from my home network (wired and wireless) going through the X60 system, then no dice.  Then I get that error message from Etsy.

Also I don't use a VPN on my home network.

My son may also have found a good clue.  Etsy uses Data Dome for their security system.  He used Burp by PortSwigger to log what happened when he attempted to log into Etsy.  In the logs from Burp, we are getting a 403 error message from Data Dome, where it's basically rejecting the login request.   So it's not even hitting Etsy's system.   However our ISP refreshed our IP address and poof, my entire home internet is offline to everything.    So we have to fix that first before I can turn to this Etsy issue again.   But looking at the data more and more, I now believe it's not the X60 that's causing the problem but Data Dome rejecting the login request and then declining access.

This issue is just sooo weird!!!  And this is an under statement.

  @yosh62

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you are having trouble accessing Etsy stores from your wife's desktop when connected to your Deco Mesh network, even though other devices and networks (like a Verizon hotspot) work fine. You have already tried updating firmware, removing switches, and checking for blocked sites, but the issue persists.

Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot this issue:

1. Check if the issue is with your ISP:
• Disconnect the main Deco from your modem and connect your PC directly to the modem. Try accessing the Etsy stores. If you still can't access them, the problem might be with your ISP.
• For mobile apps, you can also try connecting your old router directly to the ISP modem and see if the issue persists.

2. Disable VPNs or Proxies:
• Ensure there are no VPN or network proxy settings enabled on your PC or phone, as these can sometimes block or reroute traffic.

3. Change DNS Servers:
• Open the Deco app, go to MORE > Internet Connection, and change the DNS server to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8.
• After updating the DNS server, reconnect your device to the Deco network to ensure the new settings take effect.

4. Check Antivirus/Real-Time Protection:
• On some Deco models, the "Antivirus" or "Real-Time Protection" feature might block certain websites. Check the protection history to see if Etsy is being blocked.

5. Review Parental Controls:
• Double-check the Parental Control settings, including content filtering and website blocking, to ensure Etsy is not being restricted.

If you have tried all of the above and still cannot access Etsy, please let us know the results of each step so we can assist you further.
