Model: Deco XE70 Pro
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.2.11 build 20240724 rel. 38913

I have 3 Deco XE70's connected to a fiber modem.  After initial setup about 6 months ago all worked great.  Sometime a couple months ago some smart devices stopped working (blink cameras and Delta faucets), and wifi internet speed tests from my laptop showed slow (5-15 Mb/s) download and still screaming upload (500-800).  I have no devices with ethernet ports, so I couldn't test the modem directly.  Fiber company came and checked and said all was fine.  Most web browsing seemed fine and all streaming (firestick and Roku) was also fine.  I tried checking speed with my phone (S24) and it was fast up and down.  I deleted the network and set it up several times.  The behavior is still the same.  Super frustrating is that some download sites don't work at all (Windows update and Adobe).  Also, Adobe Lightroom can't up or download.  But I can download a 300 Mb file from Google drive in seconds.  Then I noticed that some websites just didn't work at all.  I tried hotspotting with my phone and those same sites worked fine.  I also use the same laptop on other networks, like hotels and my hospital and business with no issues.  Lastly, every time I have deleted and set up my network again a 6 GHz ID is not visible.  Initially there was my main network ID (bzyair) and a 6 Ghz ID (bzyair 6G).  My laptop and phones are new enough to see 6G and now do not.

I like the look of the Deco, the pricepoint, the initial ease of set up, and the app; but this is nonfunctional.  I'm about ready to chalk this up to a bad investment and get an Orbi.

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that your Deco Mesh network was working well for months, but recently your smart devices stopped working and your laptop's download speeds dropped significantly, while uploads remain high. Some websites and downloads fail, but others (like Google Drive) work fine, and your devices work normally on other networks. The 6GHz network also disappeared after resets.

To troubleshoot these issues, please follow these steps:

1. Test the Internet connection directly:
• Since your modem has no Ethernet ports, you can't test directly, but you have already confirmed with your ISP that the fiber service is working correctly.

2. Check Deco QoS settings:
• Open the Deco app and go to MORE > QoS.
• Make sure the QoS bandwidth matches your subscribed Internet speed. Incorrect QoS settings can limit your download speeds.

3. Review device-specific settings:
• In the client list of the Deco app, select your laptop and smart devices.
• Ensure 'Speed Limit' is disabled and 'Connection Preference' is set to 'auto'.

4. Parental Controls:
• In the Deco app, check the 'Parental Control' section to ensure your devices are not restricted by any profiles.

5. Satellite Deco units:
• If your devices are connected to satellite units, ensure the signal strength is at least 2 bars. Weak backhaul can cause instability.
• For Ethernet backhaul, confirm the Ethernet connection is direct and 'Ethernet Backhaul' is displayed in the app.

6. Wired device troubleshooting:
• If possible, connect a device directly to the main Deco via Ethernet to compare speeds (if your Deco model supports this).
• Try different Ethernet cables and ports.

7. Wi-Fi device troubleshooting:
• Make sure your devices are connected to the nearest Deco unit with a strong signal, and are using the 5GHz or 6GHz band (if available), as 2.4GHz is not recommended for high-speed or latency-sensitive activities.
• Ensure your devices are connected to the main network, not the guest or IoT network.
• Since your 6GHz network disappeared, check the Deco app's Wi-Fi settings to see if the 6GHz band is enabled. If not, try rebooting all Deco units and updating firmware if available.

If the issue persists after these steps, please contact TP-Link support and provide the results of your troubleshooting. This will help us diagnose and resolve the issue more efficiently.

@Dr_Big_Bzy Which Fiber ISP are you using?  What is the "modem"/gateway model that they gave you to use?  For 6 GHz settings make sure Preferred Scanning Channels (PSC) is selected/enabled.  Likely OFDMA/MU-MIMO needs to be disabled if PSC fails to get it to show up.

Is any firewall on the ISP gateway enabled?
