What are the compromises of using one BE63 as the master for my old five node x20 mesh system? Is it worth doing.

I understand that you're considering using one BE63 as the main Deco in your existing five-node X20 mesh system and want to know about potential compromises and whether it's worthwhile.
According to our knowledge base, this is definitely worth doing as it will provide significant improvements to your network. Here's what you need to know:
Benefits:
• The BE63 (BE65) features 4x 2.5GE Ethernet ports compared to the X20's 2x 1GE ports, which means much faster wired connections and better support for high-speed internet plans
• The BE63 offers Wi-Fi 7 technology with significantly higher speeds: up to 5764 Mbps on 5GHz and 5764 Mbps on 6GHz, plus 574-688 Mbps on 2.4GHz. The X20 only provides up to 1201 Mbps on 5GHz and 574 Mbps on 2.4GHz
• The BE63 is recommended for Advanced usage scenarios (4K/8K streaming, gaming, AR/VR, 60+ devices), while the X20 is designed for Basic usage (web browsing, basic streaming, under 30 devices)
• The BE63 includes a USB 3.0 port for storage sharing, which the X20 lacks
• You'll gain access to newer features like Manual Wi-Fi Channel Selection, Wi-Fi Backhaul Mode Selection, Camera Security, and Internet Backup
Compromises:
• Your X20 satellite units will continue to operate at their original Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) speeds and won't benefit from Wi-Fi 7 features
• The overall mesh system performance will be limited by the X20 units when devices connect to them
• The backhaul between the BE63 and X20 units will be limited to the X20's capabilities (1201 Mbps on 5GHz)
Bottom line: Using the BE63 as your main Deco is absolutely worth it, especially if you have a high-speed internet connection (above 1 Gbps) or need better performance for your primary devices. You'll get immediate benefits on devices connected directly to the BE63, and you can gradually replace your X20 units over time as needed.

Going to asume your trying to figure out away around this?
• The backhaul between the BE63 and X20 units will be limited to the X20's capabilities (1201 Mbps on 5GHz)
If so the answer is no because you cant bypass the speed limitations of the ports on the X20
If I assued wrong please let me know

@SGTROCK You are right in your assumption. Please bear with me for another question. I purchased (2) of the Deco7 Pro BE63. One will be the master, is there a best place to put the second node when I add it to my present (4) node X20 system?

If you don't mind doing a little beta testing this would help you find the best place for all of your decos :)

@SGTROCK Thanks for all the help. I will do the beta testing and purchase a third BE63 node. This will be my system moving forward. The X20 nodes will be relegated to EBAY for sale. Thanks
