Model: Deco BE63
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

Hi,

I just bought a BE 10000 mesh system and am trying to set it up. With one of the Decos plugged in to the modem (Comcast) via ethernet cable, then first plugging in the power of the modem to reboot, then the power of the Deco, I arrive at the flashing blue stage. In the Deco app, I try to connect to the Deco, and find it in my wifi networks listing; I connect to it but it shows no internet connection - this is where I'm stuck. I've rebooted and modem a number of times, and repeated the correct process, but there is always no internet connection. How do I proceed? I've also tried another Deco in the package, with the same result. Please help, as I'm considering returning this to the vendor. Thanks.

Let me help you troubleshoot this issue. Since you're encountering the "No Internet connection" error during setup, please follow these steps:

Confirm your Internet connection type with your ISP (Comcast):
• Is it "DHCP/Dynamic IP" or "PPPoE"?
• Does your ISP require a VLAN?
• Note: For most ISPs in North America (including Comcast), the connection type is typically "DHCP/Dynamic IP" and no VLAN is required.

Try MAC Cloning:
If you have a PC that can successfully connect to the internet when plugged directly into your Comcast modem, but the Deco cannot, performing a MAC Clone might resolve the issue:
1. Connect your PC directly to the Comcast modem and confirm it has internet access
2. If it does, perform a MAC Clone on the Deco by following this guide: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2925/
3. Clone the MAC address of your PC's Ethernet adapter

Additional troubleshooting:
• Try replacing the Ethernet cable between the modem and Deco
• Try using a different Ethernet port on the Deco

For more detailed troubleshooting tips, you can also refer to this FAQ: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2239/

If the issue persists after trying these steps, please reply back to this post.

Hi, thanks for your suggestions, though luckily I ended up not needing them, as it's now working.

I decided to first try a different ethernet cable, and was connecting things here and there, when suddenly the app showed a screen stating that I was connected to the Deco, and asked me if I wanted to continue setting up; I also noticed then that the blue had stopped flahsing, and was a steady blue. From here on it was smooth sailing. I was able to name the network and connect the other two mesh nodes that came in the package easily - just a matter of plugging them into power outlets. Configuring my devices to them was actually fun.

I do however have a question: how do I set up a Guest Wifi? I haven't looked too hard, but haven't seen that in passing.

Thanks for your help.
