Archer C8 web console stops working

Archer C8 web console stops working

After some time (weeks) the web console at x.x.0.1 stops responding, so I can no longer see the desktop. Is there a way to bounce the http server w/o rebooting the router? The router and wifi are working fine, I just can't get to the console. Having to reboot a box makes one think of cruft like windows? Can I ssh into it like normal linux? Update firmware?
Other than this prob it's a great router. TIA!
