Hi all,

Today I received my Archer C7 and the signal was very sporadic, so after reading, I updated to the latest firmware (170525). After this, my 2.4GHz signal was stable, but my 5GHz service disappeared altogether.
Prior to updating, the 5GHz service worked (although very inconsistently). The 5GHz light does not appear on the device and I cannot see the 5GHz service on any of my devices.

Things I have tried:
Rebooting the device
[*]Restoring the device to factory settings
[*]Reverting to the firmware the device arrived with
[*]Changing the channel
[*]Changing the mode
So far, nothing has worked. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Same issue, 5Ghz is not visible on any of my devices, called TP-LINK and got the firmware on this issue, resolved now. You can call them and have a try.

What do you mean, got the firmware on the issue... I also have this problem and have the latest firmware. Is there a secret firmware?

Yeah, it seems a beta firmware which fixed my router from 5Ghz signal disappearing. You may call them and get the beta and have a try. Seems the same issue.

Ran into the same issue, looks like they didn't fix it in the newest firmware patch (when you change your SSID name for the 5G it really doesn't like that at all). So the troubleshooting that I've done led me to realize that the DNS is having a non-value stored when it isn't directly specified and rebooted upon its change. This only affects the 5G band for some reason, 2.4 goes unaffected. Hopefully this will be patched, but for anyone who has been searching and struggling like I have, this is a fix that works.
