Sony Smart TV will not connect

Something in my Sony TV is preventing it from connecting to the Deco M5 sitting next to it, every other item in the house connects just fine and works great. Just this new Sony TV, it worked fine on the WiFi I replaced with the deco's but now it it sees the network but never connects, I was able to ensure the Deco was fine by plugging in a LAN cable to the TV and the Deco, that connected just fine. I saw in the internet that breaking the WiFi into 2.4 and 5 will let the TV see the fastest and connect to it. Is this logical? My first Deco units

I hope so too. It seems to me that tech support should be smarter than this 71 year old!

Hi,
I've got the same issue with Deco P7. Unless I set the WiFi without any password, my Sony smartTv and my Denon HEOS wireless soundbar won't connect.
Only way I found to connect is :
- no Wifi password AND
- do not hide the SSID
Which is not acceptable.

Just purchased a Deco M5 and I have the same problem. My Sony XBR-65X900E can't connect to it unless I disable Fast Roaming in the Deco app, in which case it works.
My TV is currently on firmware 6520. I noticed that a new firmware version 6545 is available in Europe and should be available in NA soon. Among the changes, it says it improves Wi-Fi connection with certain routers. I'm hoping that this will fix the issue we're experiencing.

Hi, I do have the same issue with my 75X900F. Neither deactivating fast roaming nor the 5G helps. Hopefully, the new firmware will help..

It's 1 year 2 months already since the first topic opened but there's no responses or update firmware from Tp-link....
Where are you now, our Tp-link Support? Look like an software patch could save us all. I confused...

As I understand, Fast Roaming (802.11r) is just an improvement to the authentication speed while roaming (switching to another AP) only. It doesn't affect the client's roaming capability. There are still 802.11k/v. So you can safely turn it off and still have "seamless" roaming, maybe just a little slower.
I've tried walking around my house and ping localhost on my phone, lost 1 package only.
The downside with 802.11r is that incompatible clients won't connect to the wifi, that's why I don't think TPLink can do anything about it. This is up to Sony.
But I'm not sure if this can be fixed with a software update or would require a hardware change?
