Deco M9 Plus Horrible Speeds
Hi All,
Just set up my M9 Plus 3 AP system and boy am I seeing some horrendous connection speeds. I called support yesterday and they had me unplug the auxiliary APs, and I’m only seeing 28Mbps on my 2x2 AC iPhone X. The PC’s tested marginally better- my desktop with a 600Mbps AC adapter is at 150mpbs, and my laptop with A 650Mbps radio connecting at 350Mbps.
I have no competing wireless networks, and there are no interference sources in or around my house.
With previous Xyzel 3000 CenturyLink Router, I was able to achieve 450Mbps on my laptop which I verified before setting up the Deco, and 120Mbps on my iPhone, if I recall correctly.
I’ve disabled the 2.4ghz band in order to try to force the devices to use a faster connection, but still no luck. All IPS, QoS, and security services are disabled. TP-Link Support told me they’d put me in touch with an Engineer, but I have yet to see anything come through.
Im a Network Specialist by trade, and perform wireless maintenance and augmentations daily, so I’m pretty comfortable in saying that these speeds, especially on my mobile device, are unacceptable. I can’t understand why my 1Gbps Fiber connection, which when directly connected to the ISP provided router were hitting 850Mbps, is only able to hit 450Mbps on the Deco at the demarc, and why my end device speeds are so low.
Any help? Advice? Secret firmware or developer mode I can enable to really start nailing down the settings, like forcing 80mhz channel bonding or separating the networks by 2.4/5Ghz? Can I flash this thing with DD-WRT or something similar and make it actually usable for speeds I couldn’t get in 2010 on 802.11G?
Might take a while to reply, internet’s slow.
