Model: Archer C7
Hardware Version: V4
Firmware Version: 1.0.2 build 20170301

So I get a Wan Connection Error. It says it is unable to get IP address from DHCP server.

The IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, primary DNS, secondary DNS all read 0.0.0.0

I have restarted and the router and the modem many times, changed the Ethernet cable, and even called my isp so it seems like the issue is with the modem.

Any advice on what to do? Is my router busted?

Thank you for your help!

@deiro

No, looks like a common problem in which the modem is not recognizing the router.

Here is a thread where a user had a similar issue: https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/152391

@siroscar

Connect your computer to the modem to see if you still get the internet, if not something is wrong with the modem. If you do get internet to connect the TP-Link router back, and contact the ISP to let them know it is not recognizing the new router. See if there a reset possible on the modem to recognize a new device.

@Alex7777

I had lost the WAN IP a while back after a major power outage in our area.

My ISP (Xfinity) says to power off the modem for 5 minutes when experiencing lack of service issues.

I unplugged both the router and the modem power for 5-10 min (I also turned the power switch on and off while unplugged) to drain the capacitors mostly for the modem.

Then powered up the modem and waited for it to stabilize, then powered up the router. Then I got the WAN IP address.

If that does not work, you may need to contact your ISP to reset your connection. I think the term they use is re-provision.

Let us know if it works for you.

@ArcherC8

ISP sent a team and looks like the fiber broke. They had to change the equipment. The router never had a problem

Cheers!
