I have three extenders in my system. They work fine, but every hout or so, Internet connection is lost, both WiFi and Ethernet. on all three extenders. After about 2 minutes it will reconnect. How can I fix this? It's very annoying when streaming video.

Hi Mike,

You would want to first isolate the router and confrim if it is having the same issue.  This could very well be a simple lease renewal issue or something more complex.  If it involes prodcts or service unique to Mexico we would recommend using the community designed for your region at https://community.tp-link.com/mx  They will be able to provide the best support for products and services in Mexico.  This community is geared toward US products and servces

@Carl  Thanks

I am using Net Uptime Monitor to gather data. I have run with direct connect to my modem/router for over 24 hours without failure. When connected to my TP-Link extenders I ran 12 hours overnight and had 8 failures, averaging about 20 seconds each.

To me this seems like some kind of IP address conflict.  The interval between failures varies wildly, from a couple of minutes to over an hour.

My devices are all of US origin and I really don't want to try to cope with Spanish in a local forum.

Any other suggestions?

I can understand that.  It is mentioned becasue support for TP-Link products and services is regionally based.  Regardless where the item orginally comes from the support that can be provided is generally best when helping customers aboard.  I would start with the router logs and see if anything looks abnormal.  If you are unsure what to look for include the logs here and we can take a look as well.

@Carl  Thanks

These are the only log entries in the router for today:

2020-05-05 13:12:43 [Informational][Run-Log] CPE Inform to ACS Success.
2020-05-05 15:01:44 [Informational][Run-Log] CPE Inform to ACS Success.

My uptime monitor this afternoon:

5/5/2020 12:31:19 PM    Log Start
---------------------------------------
Failure      Start             Length
5/5/2020 12:59:34 PM    0:00:23
5/5/2020 1:10:38 PM    0:00:14
5/5/2020 1:25:48 PM    0:00:19
5/5/2020 1:35:31 PM    0:00:59
5/5/2020 1:37:33 PM    0:01:17
5/5/2020 3:01:08 PM    0:00:33
5/5/2020 3:04:42 PM    0:00:28

Doesn't seem to be any correlation

Mike the only thing i can think of that could be related is power save mode.  Please try this:  https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/2018/

Thank you @Carl

I've done a LOT of research/experimentation, and here is the result:

Firstly, I turned off power saving. ... no difference

Assigned fixed IP addresses to the access points ... no difference

Updated all firmware ... no difference

Tried eliminating the access poits one at a time... no difference

Then I had an idea. I set Net Uptime Monitor to register outages of 1 second or more from my ISP (it was previously set to 5 seconds). Log showed that I was getting quite a few in 24 hours, 1 second each. Normally this would not be noticable, but obviously it was noticed by my powerline network, which took up to a minute to sort itself out.

I dug out an old D-Link WiFi repeater, and that seems to have solved the problem.

I will now complain to Telmex about the 1-second internet drops ( have a fiber optic connection, so there is no excuse), and look into a mesh network.
