Model: Archer C4000
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.1.1

I'm having a weird issue with my Archer C4000 and Windows 10 PC.

Here are my down/up speeds in mbps with certain setups:

Modem —> Ethernet —> PC : 1000/35

Modem —> Ethernet —> Router : 1000/35

Modem —> Ethernet —> Router  —> Ethernet —> PC: 8/35

Modem —> Ethernet —> Router  —> WiFi —> PC: 8/35

I have tried multiple Ethernet cables and no other devices has connection speed issues. Any idea why my PC would be slow only when connected to my router, with no difference between WiFi and Ethernet?

So turns out it’s a driver issue. I booted up in safe mode and my speeds are up to normal. Now just need to go through the super fun task of figuring out which one is the issue...

UPDATE: Not a driver issue. Turns out Dell likes to install a network prioritization tool called SmartByte. Uninstalled that and everything is good.

Try power off the modem, router, and the PC, wait one minute, power up the modem, wait, then the router, wait, then the PC and retest. Also try a different PC to see if it is the PC. You can delete the network on the PC and re-add it and review all of the network settings as that may be an issue. Strange that both wired and WIFI affected.

@American1776

Look at the link speeds for both connections.

I would try setting DNS servers on the computer just to see if that changes anything.

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried them all with no success. I tested on another Windows 10 PC and it has normal speeds. Also tried disabling Windows Defender, but it didn’t help.

@Tony

Connection speed is set to 1 Gbps and changing the DNS didn't help.
