So this is my first foray into powerline adapters, so please forgive any novice ignorance...

For purposes of where I wanted adapters, my needs for multi-outputs in certain spots, etc. I felt like I did my research and bought two kits of two each, PA 8010s (AV1200) and PA 9020s (AV2000). I've had my 8010s for a couple days and loving them, but today I recieved by 9020s and they don't appear to be communicating with each other at all. The 8010s work fine together and the 9020s work fine together. I went back and double-checked that they're both AV2 architecture and should be working together. I tried pairing them on the same line, plugs 2' apart, and nada...red light on the powerline indicator of opposite types, where the same type connects immediately. Can anyone help me figure out what I'm missing and why they're not communicating? Thanks!

@Sonotorian

The red LED means they are connected, but it just has a slow connection due to where it is, look to move it to a different outlet as you want it to be green.

I would place all four in the same room first, then pair them up. Use the tpPLC utility to see if all four show connected. If not, use the utility to add them manually.

Here is a FAQ that shows how to add them: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1059/

@Tony Thanks for the info. I'll try that, but when it was displaying the red light was when I was alluding to them being on the same circuit, 2' apart (same room).

@Sonotorian

If they were that close then the wiring may either be bad or there is something else causing that much interference (ex. appliance) that the powerline adapter is showing the connection is slow. If you try a different set of powerline adapters and those show green, then the problem is likely the powerline adapter showing red itself.
