Model: Archer A7
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.0.14

Hi all. I recently decided to purchase a TP Link Archer A7 for my new apartment. I'm moving from the C7 which has treated me pretty well. But when I installed the A7 my speeds decreased by almost half.

I pay for Spectrum 400down/20up.

When I was using the C7, my speeds were 400down/23up.

When switching to the A7, my down speeds were half. 200down/21up.

All of these speeds are hardwired to the router, so it's definitely not a wifi interference issue.

I even went back to the C7 to make sure I didn't short a cable, but the speed tests are still showing that the C7 is almost double in speed.

I've tried rummaging through the A7 settings and read that turning NAT boost off (hardware NAT acceleration) has helped. But that hasn't done anything for me. Any help would be appreciated!

Please try the following firmware to see if your speeds improve: link

I installed this firmware and rebooted, but my speed tests are still the same.

Use the A7 as the main router switching it to router mode and test the LAN speed of that to the modem, be sure to turn NAT Boost on.

@Tony The A7 is the only router in use at the moment. NAT boost makes me speed drop below 200Mbps and I've been hardwired the whole time.

In focusing just on the A7, I would swap Ethernet cables just to test if you may get something different at this point.

In the end, if the router is consistently slow, I would recommend reaching out to support.

I've been trying to get Gbit speed from the A7.  The only way I found that will get anywhere near Gbit is to turn off IPv6.  I have boith NAT and NAT Boost on.  I can usually get 700 to 800 Mbit on a speed test to the ISP (Comcast).
