Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

hi there

i have the vr600 v1

last month i have upgraded my internet

and now i have fiber connection using a digital converter thats connected to the  asus ac86u  wan port

the main router is ac86u (set his ip to 192.168.1.1)

the second router is vr600 (set to 192.168.1.2 and dhcp off) in the other side of the house using a lan to the port 4/wan

both routers on the same subnet 255.255.255.0

the vr600 is mac addressed to 192.168.1.2 as a static ip in the ac86u and dont have double assigning to it's ip

im having a few issues configurating.

-when the vr600 in adsl router mode, the wired connected devices have internet access but the wifi have issues. the devices connects to them but stuck on getting ip. the vr600 status the no internet icon on the router settings.

-when im switching the vr600 to wireless router mode the wifi issue is same but now the admin setting page is unaccessible. cant be access through 192.168.1.2 and wont show up in ip scanner 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.255. each time i try  this mode i end up doing a hard reset

-i have tried to change the channels of the wifi using wifi analyzer to the most "unbusy" channels - no success

-tried to disable firewall on the ac86u - no success

-tried to do wifi bridge - no success and this messes up the wifi on my ac86u

my main goal is to have access point with different wifi ssid and wired connection on the other side of the house or using it as a "mesh" with wired and wireless with the same ssid as the ac86u

i ave tried any tp link tutorials with no luck

can some one please solve this issue for me?

thanks

While setting the VR600 in wireless router mode, leave it in Dynamic mode, do not disable the DHCP since you are not running the VR600 in WDS so having its own DHCP server is fine.

On the main router, reserve the IP for the VR600 so the IP that is assigned to the VR600 to LAN4 is always the same.

You should now be able to log into the router and it should function normally.

Disabling the DHCP server in the VR600 is only done if you plan to run the VR600 in WDS mode which your not as you are using a Ethernet cable.

@Tony

thank you for answering me

by turning dhcp on - will the main router will be "in charge" on the connected devices in the vr600?

i need to to make sure 2 things are done

1. the main router will be the one to assign static ip's. so the vr600 wont assign ip's by himself

2. i wont have another network. so the computers on my network share can see each other

will it still be as mentioned?

thanks

If you want only want the main router assigning IP addresses, then you would disable the DHCP server in the VR600, and connect an Ethernet cable not to the "WAN" port of the VR600, but to the LAN port of the VR600. That would pretty much turn it into an access point.
