Is AX1800 Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Router (Archer AX20)  compatible with Deco x20, as in will it join the mesh of the Deco X20 or does the AX1800 have to be in AP mode?

Or to ask the question another way if I have Deco x20 is the AX1800 not needed at all?

Both have their own way they use mesh so they both can't work as one cohesive mesh network.

The AX1800 would not be needed. If you need additional coverage I would get another X20 or X20 kit. If you happen to already have both, I would set the AX1800 an access point to give wireless coverage to whichever area is needed. The AX1800 Wi-Fi will still work alongside the Deco Wi-Fi, but they will be their own network, just like having two typical wireless routers near each other.

@Tony

So this then leads me to another question, what would happen if I went with Deco x20 as my mesh network but also plugged in Deco M5

All Deco models are able to work a as single mesh network so you will be able to manage both on the same Deco app.

@Tony

so using will using an M5 which is technically WiFi 5, with a x20 WiFi 6 will not drag down the whole network to WiFi 5 level, is that correct?
