How come I can't find the option to use Smart Connect on Tether? The instructions I've found don't exist on my app.

It isn't on the app for my A20 either. I'd assume it is under ADVANCED OPTIONS, which tells you to use a Browser to set those.

I personally do not use Smart Connect. Great if you don't know how to assign devices to a specific SSID, but Smart Connect might not do what you really want.

Ahh, I looked at my A20, and I see the article doesn't apply to that model. Sorry about that.
