Mac Permission Issues with USB Drives Connected to Router

Hi, I would really love some help =)
I just bought the Archer AX11000 and I have two USB drives plugged into it, with different but probably related issues.
- Backup Drive
- Has old Time Machine saves on it from when I used to connect the drive physically
- I can get the computer to see the drive
- I can't get the computer to recognize the drive wirelessly as a viable Time Machine destination.
- "No available Time Machine Destinations. Connect a suitable external drive or network storage device"
- Storage Drive
- I can get the computer to see and read the drive*
- I can't get the computer to write to the drive
- * There are a few seemingly random folders that I'm locked out of. They have the red icon over the folder and they give me the "you don't have permission to view this folder" error, even though the permission settings are the same as the entire drive
