Hello Everyone,

 

We are happy to announce the official release of the new VPN Client firmware for Archer AX11000/AX6000 V1. With this new firmware, you will now be able to configure it as a VPN Client to connect to a VPN Server.

Ready for the new firmware? Click on Check for Updates on your router web GUI or on the Tether App, or you could download the latest firmware from the local website and install it manually on your router. 

Archer AX11000_V1_1.3.2 Build 20221128 Official version (Updated on Dec 30, 2022)

Archer AX6000_V1_1.3.0 Build 20221208 Official version (Updated on Mar 6, 2023)

 

Note: Some new features would not be available when the router is working in Access Point mode.

 

 

New Features/Enhancement for Archer AX11000 V1:

 

1. Improved the stability of the system;

2. Added VPN client;
3. Added switch for the QoS feature;
4. Added IPTV settings in the Tether APP;
5. Optimized Online Client List feature;
6. Optimized the link aggregation feature;
7. Optimized the wireless schedule feature;
8. Modified the Hostname to "ArcherAX11000";

 

Bug fixed:
1. Fixed some security issues;
2. Fixed the bug that the router keeps dropping connection in some cases;
3. Fixed the bug that some applications fail to open the UPnP ports;
4. Fixed the bug that time machine feature couldn't find the USB backup path after updating the MacOS 13.1 version;
5. Fixed the bug that Alexa custom skill can't enable the WPS feature.

 

 

New Features/Enhancement for Archer AX6000 V1:

 

1. Added VPN client;
2. Added switch for the QoS feature;
3. Added IPTV settings in the Tether APP;
4. Optimized Online Client List feature;
5. Optimized the link aggregation feature;
6. Optimized the wireless schedule feature;
7. Improved the stability of the system;
8. Improved the web management UI.

 

Bug fixed:
1. Fixed some security issues;
2. Fixed the bug that the router keeps dropping connection in some cases;
3. Fixed the bug that some applications fail to open the UPnP ports;
4. Fixed the bug that time machine feature couldn't find the USB backup path after updating the MacOS 13.1 version.

 

*This official version for Archer AX6000 V1 will not be allowed to be downgraded to the previous version after updating.

 

 

This latest version for Archer AX11000/AX6000 V1 also includes some other enhancements and bug fixes. Be sure to update your Tether App to the latest version in order to explore all the great features or enhancements. The VPN Client Feature has now been added to the official firmware release for the AX11000 v1 and v1.6 and AX6000 v2; with the firmware now available from the model's download page. If your model does not have the new firmware listed, you may continue to use the early access versions below.

 

Please ensure that you have selected the correct hardware version before downloading and updating your firmware, as not all versions have received an official updated firmware to support the feature.

  @Kevin_Z  Hello Kevin ! is there a list of VPN provider that work with the AX11000 , i dont undersatnd much about VPN but i need one to get United Arab Emirate IP to be able to watch some contenent over there thats blocked ! so this open vpn future on AX11000 is right for me or has nothing to do with what i want ? Thank you

For example can i configure PIA VPN now on tplink ?

The VPN Client of the TP-Link router can work with third-party VPN Servers such as Surfshark, NordVPN, Mullvad, Proton VPN, Express VPN, PrivateTunnel, OVPN, PIA, etc. 

 

A VPN connection helps provide a more secure connection and access to other networks and the internet, you are able to access websites and online services that would otherwise be blocked in your network. So in this case, using a VPN Client to connect to a VPN server should help you.

  @Kevin_Z Hello Kevin, hope ur doing fine... i need hlep in another mater that i posted week ago and Riley_S was always quick in replying, now its been more than 5 days and never heared from him again ! I've even sent private message and this too in vain ! plz are you able to see this for me !

As I can see, Riley has replied to you in every detail that we can think of. All these devices, iPhone 14 pro, MacBook Pro, and Apple TV could be 2*2 MU-MIMO, so they could negotiate with the AX11000 in 1.2Gbps in an ideal environment. You can verify this by login to the web GUI of the AX11000 to check what is the negotiation speed on these devices under the Network Map, then please show us the screenshot.

 

If the negotiation speed is 1.2Gbps, but you still only get ~600Mbps when connecting to the 5G network, please confirm if you have tried the suggestions provided by Riley that try running a Wi-Fi analyzer to review the surrounding channels, then choose a less crowded one. Reboot the router and the iPhone to test the speed.

 

Regarding the QoS setting, please check and ensure there is no device in high priority, and it is in Standard mode as described in the following FAQ:

Thanks alot Kevin !
The thing is was that i made my ISP provide me with modem capable of Bridge mode ! and they chage it for me a week ago !
So what i was asking him if there is anything on the AX11000 that need to be adjusted after connecting it to the modem ( that now is in bridge mode ) or leave as it is ?
ill give a feedback in case someone else pass by this. but before putting the modem in bridge mode with or without Smaert connect never was able to pass 600mb from my 1Gbps and putting the AX11000 as AP helped a little ( was reaching 650mb ) So now after changing modem to bridge , with smart connect still getting 600mb but setting up 3 diff SSID with manual config i was able to get 800Mb and once 850MB i think this is perfect tested for 1 week and im now always getting 850Mb !! and wired usually 950Mb to 1Gbps but now its gibing 1.2Gbps

I see. Thank you very much for all these detailed information, I'm glad to hear that the speed is much better now once changing the modem to bridge mode.

 

We generally configure only one router in the network to avoid double NAT, which may cause a speed loss since it makes the communication more complex when comparing with only one NAT in the network.

  @Kevin_Z Fully aware of that seeing as that links to the stable update from May. As a I said before the early release firmware link you referred people to was a  beta update that has serious issues in this router.

TP-Link has released an early release VPN Client Firmware for their Archer AX11000 V1 router. The new firmware is available dollar6essays for all three versions of the Archer AX11000 V1, so you can keep your old hardware and upgrade to the new one.
