dead on arrival?

Model: Archer AX6000
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

With a cable to my desktop and the router powered on and the light on top steady:

             No response to ping 192.168.0.1

No response from the browser for that same address

An Internet connection should not be required for this connection. Is this unit really DOA or must I connect it to the Internet before being able to communicate with it?

Thanks for your assistance.

@RoderickG Resolution: This failed PING response was due to two factors; 1) the desktop was set for a fixed IP address (192.168.1.x) and 2) the default address for the AX6000 is 192.168.0.1. Different subnets don't communicate. Once I set the desktop to get a new IP address, everything worked just fine. Note that TP-Link Support did not pick up on this difference in subnet.
